View Full Version : Cleaning Algae on glass?

Maybe a stupid question but what do you all use to clean your glass (other than a magfloat)? I have hard green algae on the glass that is VERY hard to get off. The magfloat doesn't even touch it. And down on the glass close to the sand it seems to accumulate as well.
Is there some sort of scrubber or something that works really well?

If your willing to spend the money the Algae Free brand of scrubbers are great (wood ones). I have 1/2" glass and use the "Tiger Shark", it will even take off coraline from the glass. I also use a Kent 24" scraper for the hard to reach place's like the bottom by the sand.

I've allways used a razor blade. Just be carefull not to scratch the glass.

I'm old school, plain old blue sponge scrubber and I make sure to do the glass before doing the bottom of the tank (bb) so that no particles get lodged in and scratch the glass. I just picked up the Kent scraper though, so I may try that out.

These are the best scrapers available. Attach it to your Mag Float with frag cement and your in business.

So can you get these locally?

Thanks Diana but there are lots of spots that you didn't notice. Ofcourse I stare at my tank alot longer than you had the opportunity to last night.
