I tend to agree that a healthy sized clean-up crew is a good thing, and also agree that more snails and fewer hermits are the way to go.
You will ALWAYS have algae buildup on your glass, I suspect even with a 1:1 ratio of snails:gallon. I scrape my glass once per week to remove the light film that appears.
I would agree that you could probably use more snails, and a diversity of them. Maybe add a half dozen Ceriths and a half dozen Margaritas?
And get ready for algae blooms, cause if you haven't had them yet, they are coming! Mine took 10 months to surface, but wow did they ever!
