I've got a room at a private college close to Main and Broadway, no tanks to look at but seating and everything else is there.

I can help there.
What do you have in mind Sam?

Some Ideas:

-discounted day passes for a meet at the Aquarium (ie. We pay to get in but at better than normal group rate)

-guided tour around the marine facilities and areas behind the scenes
~show us how they feed the animals
~show us what the filtration system looks like

-some narration on maintenance of marine tanks
~how do they get/make their water. water change frequency
~what kind of lighting do they use
~additives
~filtration
~food mixture (bananas?)

-talk about breeding programs (I heard they bred seahorses)

-talk about success/failures of difficult species

-discuss future projects

Any other ideas?

I will be talking to there next week I think, I'll bring it up then. In the mean time try to concider a date and # of people. The amount affects what we can do.

Seahorses are no longer bred at the Vancouver Aquarium, last I heard they had moved the program to UBC.

Wow, Sam that's some great brainstorming
If I ever pull myself away from my tank and venture out into the world again and meet Mrs. Right, then I think I will call upon you to plan my wedding

Oh yeah and if we get a behind the scenes tour like that, then I would gladly pay full price and then some

So my answer is yes, I'm in 100%

Hey everyone, it's been awhile!
The aquarium sounds great, I'd be open to hosting again sometime. I'm still in Maple Ridge but now in a new house, my set-up has changed quite a bit as well.
Todd.
Oh yes; I need lots of advice as I'm wanting to make the jump to a clam /SPS set-up....

So the question still remains. Is the meeting going to happen?? I am relatively new to the board, but I am hoping to meet many other fellow reefers out there, as my wife gets mad when I say that I want to go to the fish store. If the meeting is going to happen , I will absolutely be there. As long as it is not during the week during regular working hours

Yes, I am really interested in the Vancouver Aquarium idea as well.

I think it would be fantastic if whomever has the necessary connections at the aquarium could set something up.

Lets get another meeting together soon!
