Need a ballast that can be put in to a custom canopy 48" long. Needs to run 2 VHO's.

get a Work Horse 7. It can run 2 48" VHO tubes. It's cheep.

They're cheep!! You need to phone your local lighting supply company since I'm sure they're different everywhere. Mine was about $56.

Whats the difference between workhorse and coralife? Coralife is 299.99 at least and workhorse is 60. How long does workhorse last and does it burnout lights in 6 months?

I would assume the difference is one has a picture of a fishie on it. That will almost always add a couple of hundred to anything!!
Seriously, though, I doubt there is any difference at all. You'd need the specs from both to compare.
Where did the burnout in 6 months come from??

I recently went through something like that. I had an 2 X 55W Allglass PC strip light. One of the ballasts crapped out in less than two years. When Allglass replaced the ballast that had their name on it, it was a Workhorse. All I had to do was figure out how to repair the fixture. :rolleyes:

Are workhorse 7's a USA brand? Or are they just somthing used for lighting that is not an aquarium made brand?

We can get them in Calgary from a company called brite lite ... if you email the head office they will put you in touch with the Canadian distributor and then your local outlet

I think there's a place in Coquitlam that has them. I believe there name is Albrite Lighting.
