I have 2 400w AC 14k bulbs, and lately one is looking 14k, the other is looking like a 10k bulb. Switched ballasts, no difference. 2 months old. Anyone notice this with these bulbs?

check to see if the nipple on the tube inside is facing the same direction, perferably upward in the fixture. for some reason sometimes when they face downward the spectrum will be yellower.

To the best of my knowledge, that's a rumour. I believe Sanjay proved nipple orientation didn't matter. But, what the heck, I'll try that.

And welcome to the board!

I agree with you, I have a bad AquaConnect bulb too, its also 14K. The colour is fine, but the growth I used to get under it before the crash was non-existent.

Mike, the reason is J&L shipped me the wrong bulbs. I ordered 250s, but got 400s. I didn't even realize it until I went to fire them up, and then couldn't get replacements fast enough. I ended up having to buy new 400w ballasts instead.
I tried to go 250, really, I did!!

Why are you posting? You don't have a tank. Go away. If you're gonna harrass me, at least bring me coffee. At home! :)
