Hi there I was wondering if this light will be strong enough for my 90 gallon sps reef tank?

It is 24" deep.

I apologize for not researching this question on my own, but I havn't made it to that part yet as I am still new to the hobby. There is a set of lights in the buy and sell section and they might be what im looking for.

Thanks
Oxy

it's a great light but the M/H may need to be more powerful. IE. 250W

It all depends on what your future stocking plans are. My experience.. buy for the future or you will just keep spending money upgrading later :p

I am hoping to purchase a lighting system that will never need to be upgraded.
I have been leaning towards perhaps trying the new LED lighting but I have a feeling that with the technology being so new it will more than likely be improved upon greatly in the near future.

Would 250's perhaps be a system that would never need upgrading?

I had that fixture on a 18" deep 90g. Not enough light. Not enough spread, even if you went with the 250w fixture, IMO.

I ended up going dual 400 mogul bulbs, but 250 would be fine for anything you wanted to keep. Lots of different setups available, make sure you get good light spread from the reflectors.

Sorry to make things more complicated. You should really decide on what you want to keep. There is such a thing as too much light. Even if you have more intensity than you need and the corals are ok with it, you will also be generating more heat which may then require you to invest in a chiller to keep your inhabitants from cooking.

For SPS, 250w will serve you better.
