Here is a link on discussion of zeolite

http://www.ultimatereef.net/forums/showthread.php?t=267358

In every paper I have read zeolites are marginally effective in marine tanks. Also I have wondered if this stuff can be recharged in marine setups. When I used to run FW, to recharge zeolite I used a saturated salt solution. Which is contradictory to use in marine tanks.

Anybody want to add to this discussion?

If you tried distilled water might break free the NH4 by the means of Osmosis.
But if it is a true ion bond you might have to heat up the water to give more energe( boilling). It probly wouldn't remore all the NH4 and trace elements. Maybe enough to change half of the Zeolite at a time.
It would be like posban from two little fish, good for about charge 4 or 5 times before adding new media.
Just athought about recharging Zeolites.
I have been using Zeovit for just under 4 weeks now, and I'm pleased so for. Would like to try some additives in the future.

those papers, are they talking about zeolytes alone? or zeolytes in combination with bacteria strains?
