BTA got chewed up this morning after wandering away from the breeding trap that I placed it in last night. With the powerhead still on, there was no mass at all showing and looked completely disintegrated until I turned off the powerhead. I thought it was completely dead. It had put up a good fight with 3 pieces of its foot still attached to the liverock. It recovered quite nicely by this evening. I expect a full recovery very soon.

doh.
you are lucky, or should i say the BTA is lucky.
that could've been a disaster had it been chopped up and spit out into bits.
good to see it wasnt really damaged.

I had that happen once to me, it came back just fine but the stuped thing went and did the same thing again, and came back but guess what, the 3rd time was the charm and it was a gonner.

Dam thing kept on moving around the tank, I know that some of you are going to flame me for not doing enough for the animal but I did try, and yes I will admit that I could have done more or given it away but that was a few years ago before I knew more so I am am sorry to say that this is how I have had to learn but please trust me that I am taking it much slower now and I am not planning on keeping any type of BTA.

How about putting some foam on the intakes of those powerheads?

Holly Cowfish  Sam, those are some pretty scary images. I don't even like think'n of that stuff, nevermind about looking at images of it

As you know I just picked up a small BTA a few months back now, and even though I have kept anemones for the full six years of reefing-that has not happened to you know who yet, but it's gotta be in my top 3 of worst case scenarios to happen. I had a LTA crawl up the face of my overflow once and that was scary too.

Well I'm glad to see that nothing bad happened to the poor BTA or your entire reef for that matter.
The fish fairy must have been on yor shoulder that day

If that happens again though, please warn other BTA owners before viewing such images-Sam, I'm not gonna be able to leave the house for months now

yes, Sam, you should've given it an R-rating for such tender eyes  (just kidding Rich) before showing such pics!
