Kissing Gourami/feeding

Just wondering if anyone has kissing gouramis and if so what you feed them. I've been feeding mine flake food. I've read that they are filter feeders. So for the last year and a half I've taken the flakes and ground them between my fingers so he can suck the food up. He's healthy and robust. But lately I've been wondering if there's any other food I could give.

they love frozen bloodworms which is mosquito larvae.....
