Specifically THESE (http://cgi.ebay.ca/TWO-250-W-14000K-Metal-Halide-Aquarium-Bulb-Lamp-Reef_W0QQitemZ120300857147QQihZ002QQcategoryZ46314 QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem) and THESE (http://cgi.ebay.ca/250-W-Watt-10000K-Metal-Halide-Aquarium-Bulb-Lamp-Reef_W0QQitemZ120300495975QQihZ002QQcategoryZ46314 QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem) ? I've bought a 20K DE bulb for my nano from the first guys before, seemed fine but I'm thinking of getting some bulbs for my big tank.

I have bought lights from Ebay...but not from that vendor. I've bought from http://stores.ebay.ca/Trust-Deals-Lights and been quite happy. I bought some 250W DE's for a buddy (6 of them) and he's been very happy. I bought a 150W and 2 x 70W as well for myself and they are great. I had one bulb not light and they sent me a new one right away after I explained the problem. Fast shipping too.

Hope that helps.

Not from there.

I bought a bulb on Ebay, it never arrived, I hounded the guy, and then posted negative feedback. I never went beyond that, mainly because I didn't know what recourse I had. He basically said, it had been shipped.

i've purchased from that ebay vendor, and had no problems with the vendor or with the bulbs. i bought de bulbs, 14k ones. they weren't as nice as hamiltons but i think i payed 99cents and got my moneys worth.

I bought from the second guy a week or so ago, but have not received the bulb yet. I'll post back once I got it.

I bought the 14000K 400W Plusrite bulbs from Greatdel. Ran them for about months. They were cooking my corals after a few weeks. I'm thinking perhaps the glass on the outer bulb was too thin allowing too much UV or something. Almost every coral in my tank stopped growing, 6 months later and everything is starting to get back to normal. I'm never trying that again!

Alrighty then, that pretty much says it all! Thanks for the info!! I think I'll stick with the "name brand" bulbs

Hmm...I got the Plusrite bulbs from my vendor as well and have had good luck with them. I don't have anything living in the Nano yet so I will have to give a future review on the 70's but the 150 I got was just fine. My buddies 250w ones have been great for his tanks growth. He runs a Coralife fixture like me though.

I have to say I tried these bulbs too and didn't have a problem with them. These are the mogul type not DE

You're running 400W? My 3- 400w bulbs are pretty bright for my 180G, so I have to be careful. The color was nice, so the lower wattage Plusrite bulbs would likely work OK, if that's what you're using.
