One thing you should think about before you buy this is a Controller.

You might be better off getting the Profilux Light II, it will control the temp, give you 4 switchable sockets, control you tunze throught the 1-10v connectors.

WHen I was shopping for a temp controller a while ago I looked at the Light II but ended up getting a good deal on the full Profilux so I went with it.

you have to check used forums on RC or Nanoreef, you can usually find single stage for ~45 and dual for ~90

I've looked myself but didnt see anywhere in canada that sold them. So rather than risking some nasty brokerage or customs fees I just went with an AquaMedic Biotherm Controller.

Yeah, I was looking at that as well. How have you found the Aquamedic?

Hmm, an intriguing possibility . . .

I've had some problems with the aquamedic heaters and the controller. But each time they start to malfunction aquamedic replaces them for me. The only catch is that you have to mail it to them first and wait a few weeks for the new one to arrive... I've replaced their heaters 3 times and the controller once. Its been about 10 months since the last time I had a problem.

Big Al's has them on their website but they are shown as Current USA chiller controller.
The picture is a Ranco looks the same as mine.

Go to www.rancoetc.com and order your single or dual temp controller, then have it shipped USPS. The most I have been hit with is taxes and a $5 brokerage fee. USPS is not like UPS with rip-off pricing on brokerage.

THey can also be ordered as pre-wired or not wired at all if you are fimilar with electrical work and want to save some money.

I've read on a couple of sites now that they sealed the sensor. I never did anything like that to mine. I thought it was full submersible. Has anyone else with the dual stage controller sealed the sensor in any way?

That thing is like twice the price of a Ranco-branded controller.

Works good, UNTIL you get a power bump. CHECK your controller if the power bumps. Mine will sometimes default to like 197*F and start cooking tank. Last time it did that, lost a cleaner shrimp and TRorch coral. Tank was 94* when I caught it
