I just swapped out my blue actinic bulbs for KZs fiji purple bulbs. I was wondering who else is using them and how has your tank responded? I tried a combination of purple and blue first and liked how it looked, then went all purple and wow, what a difference. Not sure if it is more that the KZ bulbs are a better quality bulb but they sure seem brighter and make the colors really pop. One question I have is will my corals suffer from not getting true blue actinic lighting?

I use all fiji purples over the blues or actinics, it's half blue half red and I prefer the color over other options. KZ are my favorite T5 brand and are suppose to be brighter than the competition. My corals have responded well to the purples, and the color is way better than blue alone.

I am using them, but in combination with Actinic Blues. I love the color, but wow are they bright!

I run 6 t5's and one halide, out of the 6 T5s, two are KZ purples and the other four are KZ coral lights, as far as I remember anyway. The Halide is 250W 14K Phoenix.

I don't have comparison shots, but even if I did you would have to take two pictures with exact same camera settings, if not the WB will be compensated and you wouldn't see much of a difference.

I only have one KZ Fiji Purple over my tank (out of 8 T5 bulbs). Even the one bulb made a huge difference! My remaining actinics badly need replacing and I plan on replacing them all with the Fiji Purple bulbs, and replacing my other bulbs with the KZ Coral Light (also an amazingly wicked awesome super duper bulb).

I'll try to get pics before switchover and after.

Albert, what's the fixture, # of bulbs and bulb mixture over that bad boy? And what was the bulb mixture before?

My KZ Fiji purple bulbs have helped color up some acros even more than they were. I think the red spectrum is beneficial for certain corals........

I just put in the KZ's and I do like the way the corals look under it. However, when the metal halides are turned off I prefer the way the tank looks under regular actinics. The KZ's without the MH give everything too much of a pinkish purple. It's only for a hour in the morning and evening though so I can live with it.

I mix my Fiji Purple with a URI super Actinic and 2 x 10k's for before and after the MH's are on and it looks good.

It seems to be helping the yellow in my bright green SPS to pop that much more.

I just swapped one of the Fiji's with a URI actinic white 10K, and it looks much better now.

I'm so into trying KZ's T5's. Right now I'm running a couple of MH 400w 14000 Aquaconnects and supplemented with a couple blue antics. While I'm happy with the color I'd like to eventually go to all T5's maybe to help save on power consumption and some heat reduction. Starting to see a lot of success going this way. I'm just not sure with 30" depth if this will cut it. I am going to a 230g with just 24" depth in the future.
