Is it normal for pulse corals not to pulse if there is sufficent flow in the tank?

Do you mean Xenia?

In my previous tank, it didn't pulse in high current. So, I put it where there was low current and it started pulsing. =)

Yes, xenias.

Depends on the Xenia species, I have 2 in my tank and only the silver bar pulses the other just sitts there.

I have noticed that lighting more than flow affects the pulsing. I went from PC to MH and the Xenia started pulsing a lot more and a lot faster. If they are getting pushed around by the flow they wont pulse as much.

I re-positioned them higher up right under the spray bar outflow. Still some current there but not as much as deeper down. They started to extend more and I did notice a pulse every so often.

i'm gonna have to say that flow has much more to do with xenias pulsing than lighting does. when i switched from 2x70's to a 400 they all pulsed the same, however when ever since i rearranged my rockwork and positioned the colony beside the koralia, it just sits there, hope that helps?
