Well I have started another thread due to my better half is all done with daycare so I get my RecRoom back, this tank will be 60x24x24 with 1/2"glass euro braced around. the sump will be 30x16x18 the reason for a smaller sump the laundry room and the fish room will have a wall that will share a wall to separate them. I was going to use my old 75 gal sump but its not going to work to where I want it to be. So spend more money. the tank will have something different for a over flow I went with a box in the back left corner just because I hate the over flow boxes that take up alot of tank space. Lighting will be 2x250's on a Galaxy electronic ballast bought from Doug here. THANKS DOUG:mrgreen: Im going to pick up some lumenarc reflectors and run 12K reeflux bulbs. I will have a 8 bulb t-5 tek lighting system for sale when ever i get around ordering my lumenarc reflectors too. the tank will sit around 24" off the ground recessed in 4" to have a nice ledge around it. the trim is from home Depot 6-1/2" I find that a wide trim enhances the tank. SO enough typing here are some pic's keep in mind this build will take soem time since I will be heading back to Afghanistan on June 7th until Sept time frame.

well the kitchen sink has been giving us some problems , but the laundry room didnt have sink and I wanted a sink for the fish room so once we sorted out what we needed, we went all out. then that is when we noticed thebad line coming from the sink. Im glad that we went that extra mile in the end. it paid off.

Well I was at it again trying to fine tune the fish room. Since I have been gone Doug has been mixing salt water at his house using his water and his salt for me. THANKS DOUG. So I went out and got a garbage can for Water changes its just a 21 gal container but I think it will do the trick. since my sump will be about 30 gal that should work out just fine drain the sump and clean it and do a water change at the same time.
http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e122/asmodeus338/150%20MIXED%20INWALL/DSC04324.jpg
And here is the water going in to the container, LOL man i have no life....
http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e122/asmodeus338/150%20MIXED%20INWALL/DSC04325.jpg
And snce I moved my washer and dyer to its new spot. I had to redo some of the pumbing for the washer and the Waste water for the RO/DI and the waste water for the A/C nice power cord for the washer machine.... I need to put a plug in there

well picked up the Sump today and a few goodies,
the sump is 30x16x18 i didnt want to go with a big sump this time ,the main purpose behind the tnak this time if I do a water change i will just drain the sump and fill it and there I will have 20 -25 gal done alot more easier then tryign to take it out of the sump on the lower ground. this sump will be 18 " high off the ground and above that will be my ATS algae srubber compliments of DOug.

well i ahve a few more before I head back over to Afghanistan:sad: My wife wanted me to swap the tank over tomorrow, but I dont think I will have enough time to get it sorted out and well I love to but I dont want to rush this transfer since I will be gone a better part of 4 months. I hate to see if something happens if I'm gone. so I tried something different today I painted the tank a ocean blue and then I'm applying some lacquer paint to harde over it it will still have the blue on the inside. But the out side will be a solid black what so you guys think of it..

this is just 2 coats im going to put another 2-3 on its works great with not peeling either you can see the blue on the inside too I think it's pretty slick.http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e122/asmodeus338/120%20gal%20mixed/DSC04338.jpg
http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e122/asmodeus338/120%20gal%20mixed/DSC04339.jpg

and I installed the egg crate too. its getting there
http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e122/asmodeus338/120%20gal%20mixed/DSC04340.jpg

and oh ya i built the sump stand, after building it I notiiced that it was to tall so i had to cut off 6 " off the legs:redface:
http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e122/asmodeus338/120%20gal%20mixed/DSC04341.jpg
There will be a wall dividing the fish room and the laundry room with 36" louver doors just off to the right of the sump that is where the Kalk reactor will be along with my shelving too.

Personally I prefer blue over black. My tank is blue also, though not quite as bright as yours. Anyway I think it looks great and I can't believe how quickly your build is going. Good job, man.

I was lucky I guess with my rabbit, he never nips anything. He actually cleaned all the algae off the outside of a clam once but thats it.

Very nice leopard wrasse!

I like the Rabbitfish as well. I had one for about a year before he died while I was on holidays. (mysterious) They are definately hit and miss with corals. It's a Siganus Punctatus, and they get quite big. (16" in the Wild) Mine loved Nori, so feeding plenty of that may keep your clams and corals safer. Good luck!

I soaked mine in vinegar before using and the skimmer started skimming within minutes after being placed in the sump. It still took a couple of weeks before it hit it's stride though and has been skimming consistently ever since with no help from me other then cleaning the collection cup twice a week

So with out any more or myself wasting time here are some of the frags put in there new homes.
Kinda of disappointed in how much glue were used on fragging them on the plugs out of 16 frags i think that 4 might of stayed on. So there goes the guarantee.

[If you ask me i guess when you are paying 12-18 bucks for a frags the size i got are ok if this is the size for full price WOW, you wont get me paying that price for those frags any more.. ]

I thought the same thing when I got mine, but a week later and at least 1/4" new growth on most of them I feel better, great color and great growth=great deal in my books, I don't mind paying a premium for quality.

thanks for all the kind words, it has taken me from April 02 til now to get where Im at. I think that i have comealong way ,like we all have done.. yes i have made soem dumb mistakes in purchases tha i have bought but now. Im happy with what i have and where its going the sps are doign great so far. not real growth from Snappy's yet, may be its taking it time to get used to my tank... i have lost 3 frags so far from his order about 1-2 days after the deadline. one was from the bottom of the colony that never seen any light. the others jsut reseeded up from the bottom. Im done with buying frags. I found my store to buy my corals from. at THE REEF SHOPPE. that is the only place that i will get my stuff from... good sizes and awesome customer service is what i like.....

Yes Lance once the frags start growing i will be in big trouble .. but hey i dont mind. may be i can fill Doug's tank with pay back for all the help that he has given me and equipment over the years...

most likely i will be fragging a piece from each when i get them for DOug.... if he don't mind taking them from me...

Mike, Glad to hear that you are pleased with your new inhabitants from The Reef Shoppe. It is great to see how large SPS colonies such as this can handle a long trek during winter conditions. Apart from the Tri-Color Nana, damage looks minimal. Also happy to see that that Acro crab made the trip. Thanks for this post and your compliments. Let us know when you are ready for another shipment.

Kinda of disappointed in how much glue were used on fragging them on the plugs out of 16 frags i think that 4 might of stayed on. So there goes the guarantee. :redface:I had a huge response to the Christmas sale so due to the heavier volume many of the frags never had a chance to get encrusted onto the plug. For what it's worth a frag coming off the plug that way would not void my warranty.

Just my opinion but I would go with the 40's if you are getting two, the 20's don't allow for wireless master/slave communication between the two.

NICE, just cant get over the price :(

It's not too bad if you think about how much money you can spend buying and scrapping lesser powerheads.

digital-audiophile

You can, eccotech sells un apgrade kit but they charge $150USD (~$190) per unit for the upgrade.

The cost differential between the MP20 and Mp40 new is about $140CDN so in the long run if you plan on upgrading they have you by the short and curlies. Just cheaper to buy the MP40 upfront IMO.

Noise is realitive to how you set it up, you need to adjust for glass thickness and play with the alignment of the magnets, I am considering getting rid of my tunze wavebox (I find it to be louder than the Vortech)and going with the Vortech's.

Well since you seem kind of down about it, here's what I will do...send it to me and I will test it out, let you know if its worth it and how the noise is (I sleep across from my tank) and then if its all good, you can buy yourself another one! And by "it" I mean two MP40's.

Well I bought a baby Orange shoulder tang from the LFS here she was so cute and the price was amazing less then $50 so I had to jump on it.. any ways she has been in my tank for about 3 weeks now and doing great. now to get some pictures of her was hard to do just before i went to Mexico I bought her so may be almost month then or not anyways. the kole would let her come out to play, since he is a @$$ so the mirror went up and it worked for a bit. Took the mirror down and the kole back at her again. so i got bored from the previous posts and took the paint offthe side of the tank. Now i stuck the mirror on the back corner and the kole will not leave him self alone and. happy to say LU LU is out swimming around and even swims by the kole and he doesn't do anything. pictures to follow of BABY LU LU after i go for a tann to realx and pick up some grout from HOme depot.....

Or are you putting it in the sump?

Or are you putting it in the sump?

its is a external skimmer lance its sitting beside my sump. well from the hook up til now the skimmer has been doing really good.
Its quiet
Easy to use
Easy to set up
easy to dial in
a big chamber for contact time. you can leave the collection cup on and drain it thur the true union that comes with the skimmer.
I'm really liking this skimmer the air valve is same as the euro reef air valve. easy and sucks a lot of air.
The skimmer on the bottom of the collection cup the o ring is attach to the bottom of the collection cup and had a firm seal.
THE BUBBLE KING MINI
the bubble king rated for 265 gal I can't see it. with a small chamber and a short contact time doesn't give you alot of contact time.
the Deltec AP851 is rated for 400 gal IME i really see that being true. tall unit 8" chamber bubble are supper small too

IMO I will end up keeping this skimmer for a long time is just from what i have seen and how its pulling too. Already dump the cup once today and so I'm very happy with it too........

Heya Mike,
Been awhile, hope all is well on your end of the world.
Out of all the skimmers you've tried which would be your favourite.
How much skimmate are you pulling out per day?
After buying and trying out each skimmer, are you always left with the feeling that you should be pulling more skimmate?
Thanks by the way for testing them out for everyone lol. You would be able to put together one hell of a skimmer review when its all said and done.

Mike,

Wanna sell your Kalk mixer :). Just kidding. Did you order that mixer new or found it used. That thing is awesome. What I hate about the regular kalk reactors is that the powerheads get so worn so quickly because of the kalk.

I can't believe I'm having reactor envy....

Or maybe it was a reactorgasm after looking at pics of your reactor.
