Does anyone else have this pump and if so where are the *&*&%*** oil holes. :) I e-mailed the company to no avail. I only have one port, just above the plug exit. Everyone says there are two holes, with rubber plugs in them. Well not on mine. :?

How new is the pump Doug? I think I remember someone mentioning a design change in the pump.

Oil holes?... that sounds good... Who makes it?

Doug,

If you look at the motor casing on the very top of the pump you will see one tiny hole at the very front of it and one at the back inline with each other.(just before the front and back caps on the motor)
This will drip the oil onto the front and back of the armature.

There are no rubber plugs in them, just rubber edges on the holes.

I'm making an assumption here but this isn't a submersible pump... right?

Marc, I dont got no holes. :?

I got down there with a mag glass tonight. Still cant see any. 8)

I remember the two, of which you speak on my old 2MD. Nutin on this one. Troy its less than a year old. I had it for my return on the 180, but put it away after I sold it. I wish I had kept the box. It would also be nice if Little Giant would answer their e-mail.

Other Doug, :) , its a magnetic drive inline pump. Little Giant 3MD-SC. Pressure model @ around 800gph.

Thanks Doug, I've been wondering about the Little Giants, maybe one day I will give one a try.

It's the 2md pumps that have the oil inlet holes.
I'm sure the 3md doesn't . They have an oil resevoir so you don't have to oil them.
This is from memory only. I have not checked the specs.
And my memory is faaaddding.......fast :)

Awwww, Deb. I read Gazza,s post and said "ah-ha", perhaps thats it. Then I read yours and back to the same problem.

How old is yours Deb. Perhaps the newer or older models are as Gazza describes. Also you mention yours is a 3MD. Is that the same model as mine of the 3MDQX-SC, which is a higher flow, lower head model. It would have 1in. in and out. Mine is 3/4 in and 1/2 out.

Doug, they are great pumps. Run for ever. Parts are easy to buy. I know they can even be repaired in Winnipeg. I only like the fan cooled models. I am also a huge fan of the Mak 4 pumps. Excellent pumps and fan cooled. Quieter than my 3 MD.

Yes, it is that exact model, however it is four years old so that could be it all right.

:D Thanks beaker. Thats the type of hole I have just above the power cord exit. I assumed it may be the oil hole, but needed some confirmation. I seem to have just the one though. Guess its all the new models have.

How much oil are you putting in these pumps, and how often?
