Star-Fire or Acrylic

For those of you who have had both, or are familiar with both. Which do you prefer: Star-Fire glass tanks or acrylic tanks?

I have both, but glass is better. Acrylic scratches way to easily, even when you're careful you get micro-scratches. The starphire is clear enough.

PPG Starphire is great glass IME. Acrylic scatches way to easy and while you can remove the scatches, realistically you won't.

Thanks for your responses. That's 3 for Star-Fire. Isn't anybody out there happy with acrylic. What about those of you with larger tanks, 150 gal and up? Big difference in weight, and the price between Star-Fire and acrylic isn't very much.

If the tank was really large, acrylic may be better. It has way more advantages than glass but the fact that it scratches so easily cancels them all out most of the time. Besides, how often do you move your fish tank?

I'd go Starphire as well unless it's monstrously huge (+350 gallons or so).

At those sizes, a fibreglass coated plywood tank w/a Starphire front is another option.

Acrylic is hard to keep clean without scratching it.

I agree with what has been said above, I'd go with Starphire as well over Acrylic...much easier to maintain...Acrylic is prone to scratching.
