I picked up a skimmer and a 67 gallon tank from Lastlight (Brett)

Then I picked up a 90 gallon from the classifieds on this board

I’m going to use the 90 gallon as a display and the 67 gallon as a sump.

I want a display refugium in the sump. Digital-audiophile (Greg) gave me a 40 gallon that I planned on using to build a refugium and the baffles. When I measured the size that would fit between the skimmer and the return pump I realized a 20 gallon tank would fit perfectly without having to cut any glass. I purchased a 20 gallon, removed the frame, bottom and front glass, then siliconed the back and end panes into the sump.

Next step will be adding an overflow to the top of the refugium and baffles to the sump.

Quite the project you have ahead of you. I'll be tagging along to see this tank in action.

I going to use it for the display and get a smaller sump. Then I found the 90. Since the 90 has a lid and is drilled in the bottom instead of the side I decided to use it for the main tank.

The 67 gallon won't be completely hidden since it has a display tank inside it:smile:

Oh so you plan to have a portal view into the stand/sump area?

Yes, I'll have a 20 gallon display tank in the sump. Here's a sump plan:

Any updates? Have you had a chance to get it set up yet. It's looking like it will be a really nice setup.

I'm spreading out this setup over the summer. I bought the return pump, SQWID and plumbing but haven't setup anything yet. The back and two ends of the 20 gallon have been installed in the sump and it has been leak tested. The big cost left on this are the rock and sand. I have designed the stand and just need some time to throw it together.

I spent last weekend working on the outdoor pond. We just bought a dog so I'm increasing the size of my lawn. I'm reducing the pond from 16 feet in diameter to about 6 X 10 feet, removing a stream, and adding a waterfall. I finished the waterfall, removed the old stream and installed the filter on the weekend. I have to move a retaining wall and get in a load or two of fill dirt so it will be a while before I get back to the 90 gallon.

Brent - I think you have enough to keep you busy this summer! Thanks for the update though. I'll just lay low for a while and wait till there's news.

I did some glass cutting of the pieces left over from the 20 gallon refugium and added the baffles to the tank today

I ordered a 50 lb box of Eco Shelf Rox and asked for Medium size (14"). I got exactly what I ordered. The package included two 16 inch and one 12 inch pieces as well as a handful of smaller pieces. Everything is nice and flat.

I'll combine this with 50 lbs of round more textured rocks. I'm not sure yet if I'll order another 50 lb of eco rock to keep out pests or live rock to add some biodiversity
