I have these little things that hide in the LR and send out a small tenticle out about 1 1/2 inch (the end of this tenticle looks like it has a head on it) and it waves in the current and then retracts in. day or night. I also think I have some other type of snail thing (or from snail family) that fires out a webby type strand to other rocks Just wondering if anyone has an idea.(sorry no pics of them)

Hi, Al.

Best guess to start looking: First critter might be a brittle star. Second is almost certainly a vermetid snail from your description.

The first one...maybe a Chaetopterid worm?

the snail idea I think that's it. the first thing though the tentile itself has tiny little pieces running the length of it sticking out simular to the look of xeinia then there is the head and white in color and the thickness of a thread.

thanks though

That almost sounds like the arm of a brittlestar if I'm imagining it correctly. A picture would certainly help if you could manage it.

The other one sounds like a vermetid snail (the spider web threads)...

If that's not it, try hunting around through Melev's ID page yourself. http://www.melevsreef.com/id/
