I will be looking at getting a new skimmer for my 60G tank with 30 G sump. Currently I have a SuperSkimmer 125 and it don't do so good. Does anyone have any recommondations? I am on a tight budget so please go easy on me.

Look for a used Euroreef or one of the newer Tunze skimmers (which are hard to find used - but that should tell you something in and of itself)

Keep an eye out for a used Euro Reef RS100. Not sure what a used one is going for...

I have made a mistake. I went looking at the specs today and mine is only rated for 65 G not 125......... Could be part of the problem.

I don't mean to hijack your post Glenn, but what do some of the more experienced keepers in here think about Coralife Super Skimmers?

You get what you pay for. It's not a bad entry level skimmer but when you upgrade you will see a big difference. I upgraded to a Euroreef a while back and regret ever wasting my money on the CSS. Right now though I almost regret getting the euroreef as I want to upgrade to a bubble king. :p

i just bought a brand new one from J&L for 299$. i cannot WAIT to get this thing set up. ive set it up three times just to look at it (and it looks friggin saweeet!)

i was going to go for a tunze, but the thing was the same price as the Euro-reef, and while the tunzes are great for smaller tanks, i was told that they arent so great for larger tanks. so i spent the extra 4$ and got the Euro-reef RS100 (and then had to sneak my new gear past my girlfriend when i came home.)

her:"what's that?"
me:"oh...nothing..."
H:"really?...ive heard you say that before."
M:"yeah i know...but seriously...it's nothing."
H:"oh yeah?"
M:"yeah...it's just plastic...dont worry about it."

When I met my girlfriend I knew she was Miss Right.

What I didn't know was her 1st name was 'ALWAYS!'

Apparently euro reef wont be selling their RS series in Canada anymore, just RC, just a heads up.

If that's true about the EuroReef RS series, that's gonna jack up the price for us! Eeek! Why on gods green earth would they do a stupid thing like that?

They are the reason my wife won't let my run an external skimmer.. I had more overflows then I can count with the CSS. When I managed to get it dialed in it did a fairly decent job though. I have since upgraded to an ATI

If Jeff said that, then I'm betting it's true. Eeek!

That ASM skimmer would be a great skimmer for you Glenn.

What's the justifcation to not sell the RS in Canada any longer?

Euroreef has abandoned its Canadian Distributor and is not supporting issues with skimmers from Canada.

I bought a rs180 from a Calgary dealer and when I opened it the skimmer lid was broken, the clear ring was cracked. Contacted LFS store and all was going to be taken care of. 3 months later was told no support was being offered and to contact ER myself. Send too many e-mails with no reply back. This has left more than a sour taste in my mouth.

Cheers!

I hope not bad news on their part if true.
