i thought i would post up a couple of the new skimmers i am looking at and see ppl's opinions on them. i dont have the tank yet, but being slightly nuts im already tracking down exactly what i want for it. it will (hopefully) be a 50 gallon breeder.

im thinking i am going to have a sump running below the tank, maybe 15-20 gallons, and put the skimmer in there. i want a good skimmer, but not one that is freakin loud.

Tunze DOC Protein Skimmer - 9005 (http://www.jlaquatics.com/phpstore/store_pages/product-info.php?product_ID=tz-ps9005)

Tunze DOC Protein Skimmer - 9205 (http://www.jlaquatics.com/phpstore/store_pages/product-info.php?product_ID=tz-ps9205)

Euro-Reef RS80 In-Sump Protein Skimmer (http://www.jlaquatics.com/phpstore/store_pages/product-info.php?product_ID=ps-errs080) (very similar to ASM)

similar skimmer, bigger size. Euro-Reef RS100 In-Sump Protein Skimmer (http://www.jlaquatics.com/phpstore/store_pages/product-info.php?product_ID=ps-errs100)

right now im leaning more towards the tunzes. i have the 9002 for my 24 gallon, and although i havent used it much yet, i LOVE the design and the fact that is easily adjusted and SUPER quiet.

that said, ive never used an in sump skimmer, so maybe the ASM or Euroreef would be better.

any input is greatly appreciated :)

Go with the biggest skimmer you can afford, because if your like me your 50 will soon be upgraded. So the ER 100 would be my choice in your picks with a ER135 preferably.

thanks zylumn.

the thing is, is that i dont have any more space for bigger tanks!! im kind of stretching it by putting this new one in there!

I would go with the one that mixes at least 600L/hr air or more.

There are so many models and names but air intake is the most important.
i am a Tunze fan just for that and also they are cheep on hydro, super easy to clean and very quiet.

but yeah get the biggest one you can afford.
did you look into ATI ? 2000 L/hr air intake.
Only a Bubble King has that much air intake , but for larger price tag.
