Is it possible to peel infant trochu off its perch and place elswhere? i just bought a very nice large peice only to realize that it has 2 verysmall ones coming on on the piece of wood hes planted on. i know i could cut the wood but its very close to the adult and i dont have anything small enough to cut without damaging the adult. will post pics.

If this is possible i would gladly trade one!!!!!!

What's a Trochu?

Edit: NM, just looked in your gallery. Toadstool. Yeah, you can peel them off. Just sew them back down onto a rock or something and wait a week til it attaches.

Well... Here, try this, go to google.com, enter "trochu" into the search field and hit search. Try the same thing with "toadstool leather"....

TROCHU!

:P

Not trying to be snide or anything, just saying that most vendors in Calgary will just make up names because they're FOB's.

the top will flower. i will get another pic when it does. it is not a leather coral just sometimes called that because of the way it looks when not flowered. it is a sarcophyton. i was reffered tol this a s a host for my clowns as i do not have enough room for an anemone. will try to fin the link later in headed out for a few hours.

I believe the site was called GARF. cant rember .what.

Uhm...Sarcophytons are leathers...but what do you mean about "flowering"?

It's a leather coral. The term "leather coral" can roughly be applied to any number of given soft corals that are of "leathery" texture. Whether or not they sprout polyps or "flower" is irrelevant. Trochu isn't a term you're going to get a lot of recognition out of. Toadstool leather is.

Check this out:

Google "I'm feeling lucky" with trochu:

Google "Im feeling lucky" with toadstool leather:

Either way, just dig your finger nail underneath the base of the coral and peel off. Don't worry too much about the damage, it can and will heal. Toadstools are VERY forgiving IME, and I've probably fragged nearing a thousand of the things.

You guys are calling the elongated polyps "flowers"?

by flowering i mean the top of the "toadstool " wil have (searcing for the right term) tenticals, brances , polyps come out of the flat section of the top.

ya its supposed to be a great alternative to an anemone for my clowns. thinking of getting one anyway thou and if it outgrows my tank i can use that as an excuse to get a bigger one.
