TY.

Is it just me or when you buy new coral you have to reorg your entire tank in order to get it to stay somewhere you want it?

Yep, pretty much! :D Then you'll have to rearrange a few more times when you find out the new coral doesn't like the spot you picked.

Cool...looking good! I love the Tobacco Bass....neat.

How's the cuc doing?

ElGuappo
03-04-2008, 05:22 PM
the cuc is doing better, not great but better. i have adjusted my flow away from him and hes starting to perk up a little now. thanks for asking. i love the tobbacco bass as well. i thought the rusty angel had its own personallity but the bass is the most mellow and odd fish in my tank . its funny how he lays down i certain parts of the tank, like hess just going to CHILL for a while. plus his eyes are insane. they are either any shade of Blue or Green depending on how the light hits them .

Your Tobacco Bass looks cool.

I have a Chalk Bass and a Highfin Perchlet in my RSM. The Perchlet sounds like it is very similar in behaviour to your Tobacco Bass.

ElGuappo
03-04-2008, 06:03 PM
cool i was going to get a chalk bass initally but then i saw the tobbacco in the next tank and well made my choice. still looking for another type of similar fish be it another bass or not, i just really like his mannerisms.

Brent do you have any pics of the perchlet?

Brent F
03-04-2008, 06:11 PM
No, It has only been in the tank a couple days so is still pretty shy. He's perched out front at dusk but hides much of the day and sleeps in a cave at night.

Also, my cheap camera stopped working on the weekend. I bought a new camera last night so will hopefully get a picture of it soon – I’ll have to see what kind of pictures I can get with the “Aquarium” mode.

i have 3 underwater settings on mine the only one thats decent is the macro. but its for UNDERWATER. i need to give this a try jsut worried the camera will leak .

Cool look forward to seeing it

Have fun with the new camera.

just wondering what a good location would be for this guy? im thinking sand bed as there is a great spot with med flow and a cave for his footing . what do you think? would higher be better due to lighting? also how does one "spot feed" appropriatly ? is they odd mysis and brine, aswell as cyclopeeze that he will get due to normal feedings enough? this spot is in a good flow spot as far as food being carried in the draft as it below one korialia nano and in front of the korialia 1 that is behind my rock.

don't worry about placement too much, he will move where he wants to. I got a green BTA and he has moved 2 times in one month.

Nice looking tank. Who is keeping your sand so clean?

I would say it's the sand sifting starfish in the second to last pic. A poor choice for a small tank...it will quite likely starve to death within 3-9 months.

ElGuappo
06-11-2008, 02:23 AM
that star has been there since day 1 and i have a second that has been there a good 3 monthes. they seem to like the pellets that fall to the bottom. i thought 1 might die but they are still growing. got it for nothing so i put er in and is doing well. 2nd one that is. also have a pair of snails (dovetail not sure the latin) somewhere in the sand.

you cant tell from my picks my rock "floats" on LR base. few places they CANT go.

im a sucker for anything that has tentacles or move in the water, i want to get one now to bad i dont have much room for a big one.

ElGuappo
06-12-2008, 05:07 AM
i have a baby growing in its smaller than a dime but looks cool with polyp extension. if i can figure out a way to get it you can have it for a small fee. not sure what to charge for that but i wont ship so you would have to come down. how big is your tank? it takes a fair bit of time for them to grow. ime

Boomboy
06-12-2008, 05:27 AM
yeah i dont ever go to calgary, i wouldnt know what to charge me either never sold corals. the constant purdicament between edmonton and calgary, man someone should just pay someone to drive back and forth for people for a fee.

ElGuappo
06-12-2008, 05:28 AM
no kidding a guy could make a decent buck doing runs. get on a couple of other boards, charge gas plus.

Boomboy
06-12-2008, 05:48 AM
well all things for sale on here , and anything in edmonton gets picked up in no time, you have to be on while they post to get it. but let me know about the leather frag ive always got room.

well due to my negligence i lost my rusty angel last week. (toped up with SW insted of FW) grabbed the wrong bucket and my salanity rose to 1.027. water change first thing in the am was not enough to save it. i have spent the last week trying to find a acceptable replacement for him and well today was the the day.

i found a Eibli pygmy angel (Eibesfeldts Pygmy Angel). i have never seen one before and it is not mentioned in any of my books. it is an amazing specimin. pics to follow when he has acclimatized a little better.

I'm sorry about your Angel.

I hate it when I lose fish & hate it even more when it's because of something I did :(

I love Eibli Angels. Should make a nice replacement.

btw - what do you normally keep your salinity at? How much of a rise was there?

On particular hot days, mine can empty it's ATO (just 2 x 450ml bottles) and still need topping up another 0.5 liter when I get home from work. Especially if I run a fan.

Jump is roughly 1.026 to 1.027 & nothing seems the worse for it.

.

ElGuappo
06-12-2008, 11:22 PM
i dont have a refractometer so measurments are only close. but it was a rise of > . 003. i also lost a cleaner shrimp. gotta love something as simple as not paying attention to what bucket you grab and poof the fish pay for it. it was really dumb on my part as my water change was for the next morning so i dont know why i felt the need to top off. it was only for a period of about 10 hours.

VFX
06-12-2008, 11:42 PM
yeah - that sucks! :(

Easy enough to do though...
