Never seen such a thing Sam - have you come across other cases documented & photographed? Or is this fairly common?

Very cool pic! How long have you had that piece?

AJ, its quite common as I found out after searching Reef Central. SmokinReefer had posted a thread on RC about it (can't search RC at the moment. Searching is disabled this morning due to 800+ concurrent users). However, I did add to an existing thread there about it:

That is a bit scary. It is not that they don't spread fast enough without laying eggs. :wink: :wink:

Wow, you must have a coral thumb! :D I kill green star coral with out trying, can't seem to keep it for some reason. Rachel :oops:

I have found it very easy. I originally bought it on a rock at a LFS. It soon covered the entire rock. Then it sent out what you might call runners. These runners anchored to other rocks, and even the glass. There are now bits of it all over Calgary. I am not certain about this, but it seems to prefer lower light levels. I have two colonies in the same tank, and the one that is six inches lower down appears to be doing better. There is certainly much greater extension. My two cents worth anyway. :D :D :wink:
