These pest looking growths have been growing on some of my rocks for years and never bothered anything but lately seem to be increasing in numbers.

Can you see them good enough here or do I need better pics?
Thanks

I have those too. I'm not really sure what they are or how bad they'll get.

Yeah they kind of look like little tiny green palythoa but their tentacly bits are longer and they are more spaced apart. Man that was a horrible description.

Yes I have a few of them too, I thought they were like a little anenome but I am not sure. I saw a thread today but I cant remember which one which had a close up of them. I think the name started with the letter "M" but my oldtimers has kicked in and I am not sure.

Its the little orange/brown polyps. Yes, they do look like sometype of colonial anenome. But they have never grown large. Not feather dusters or any worm based creature.

Dont seem to be bothering corals yet. Does yours Christy, as you have lots more coral growth than mine. Will see what I can do about a decent pic.

maybe altogether different....Close up pic if you can..

Well I'll be damned, I can't find a single one.

Doug, a sure fired cure is to get rampant brown wafer algae. That'll kill them (and a lot of other things too!).

I thought those were called manjos, or are manjos something different. Not sure as I can't seem to remember

OOPS! FYI I posted that comment, I didn't realize I wasn't logged in as myself.

I've got some stuff that looks like Doug's too. They're about 1/2 to 3/4 inch across. Kinda ugly brown tentacles with purple mouths. Mine move around to suit themselves. Don't seem to bother anything, and don't seem like their numbers increase or decrease. Sorry no help in the ID department, but your not alone. I wish they were as nice as the one's jkhchris has.

If it is some sort of anenome,,.....................KILL IT, KILL 'EM ALL!!!!!!!

BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE!

I had some other kind of anenome in my tank for a couple of years (didn't seem like a big deal), then I spent 16 hours one day getting rid of all of them!

They are back!

No, not pretty like those polyps. The manjo,s ring a bell. I remember reading about them on RC. They have very short "arms" though. Do manjo,s not have longer, anenome type arms. I must get a better pic today.

Oh I have those things in my euphyllia tank. They are definitely anemones because I've seen them walking across the glass.
I've never seen them do any harm and they don't get much bigger then that but they probably aren't good

I think mojano is the word your looking for. As for if that is what you have ...I dont know for sure. Might want to search out glass anenomes too.

Christy, I can't really tell from your photo but do yours have knobbly tentacles?
The ones in my tank have, thats how i knew for sure they weren't majano anems (they don't get as big either). Mine are really kind of cute

yup looks like majanos to me. They aren't as bad as aiptasia in that they have a somewhat milder sting and reproduce less prolifically; give them the right (or wrong i guess) conditions and you might get a bloom though. If it were me Id kill em all before they become a problem.

Mine have the knobby tentacles too. I'm pretty sure they aren't majano but not positive. Couldn't get anything but crappy pics of them today. Will keep trying.
