Bigger!

In all honesty though, my dream is a 12 foot x 5 foot by 3 foot. If your going for your dream tank, I'd make it as wide as possible...

That said any 600+ Gallon tank.....FREAKING AWESOME!

An L shaped tank would be awesome, or a Horse Shoe shapped tank |_|

I've been toying with the idea of a "L" shape too, never thought of a horse shoe shape, hmmmm.

Not sure you would be able to bend the glass enough for the horse shoe. A large tank will need some thicker glass. The only really curved tanks I've seen have been dual layered with a clear epoxy holding them together in between. Mainly because it's much easier to bend thin glass.

Had I known that it would be easy to crawl around on top of my acrylic tank, I would have built a 6 x 6 instead of a 6 x 4. On a tank this size I never considered glass for a moment.

I would not go as deep as 36" though. I'm very happy with 28" deep and glad I didn't go deeper.

It depends - are the dimensions in inches or metres?

I was considering a horseshoe shaped tank when I set up a fish room but plans change. I wanted a 4' at the end with 2 x 6' tanks each coming up a side. I found a supplier for 5" D-Bit hole saws and 4" bulkheads to tie them together so you wouldn't have to build onsite. Just a thought.

Check out www.fingerlakesreef.com for lots of info on Huge tank builds, they use plywood backing and bracing/framing, put in glass on the sides and front, then coat the inside with ocean-proof Epoxy. pretty cool.

i was thinking about doing the plywood epoxy thing, would definitely save a Boatload of money...actually I think thats what i'm going to do. you can make the overflows, and all the holes in the plywood, no need to drill any glass.
