I have to shut down my lights for about a week while I make some repairs. I have;

a ton of Pulsing Xenia

couple Zoanthids

1 Frogspawn

1 Candycane

I was wondering if anyone could give me some feedback on how long those corals can handle a lack of decent lighting.

Yeah I dimable ballasts so I can slowly turn it back up. I am going to try to get my hands on a fixed ballast to run atleast a couple of bulbs.

u mentioned that you had a pulsing xenia, my halides were out for 10 days when i was away a couple months ago cause i didn't set the timer right, and when i came it was an ugly sight, the xenia took it the worst, keep an eye on the xenia the most, mine was pretty well demolished from 10 days without light

Find a way to light it. Maybe if you ask a fellow reefer might have an extra one you could borrow..even a good pc would help

Get a back up light - doesn't have to be expensive or fancy. A couple of old desk lamps with screw-in daylight PC bulbs would do nicely.

Maybe instead of letting them sit there in the dark you could find somebody in your area that would take them for a week.

Is there anyway you can do the work during the night cycle hours?

I had to make repairs/modifications on my hood and tank but was able to work on it nightly. It took a while longer and wasnt all complete in a day but I was able to slap the hood together for each morning and continue workign on it at night.

Although this was just for an 8 gallon nano tank so it wasnt much a hassle.'

PS: A couple regular lamp sockets and a few of those 20w screw in coralife 50/50 bulbs would be better than nothing.

I agree with fkshiu about the lamp, a couple of cheap PC bulbs should do the job while you're at work with the tank

i blacked out my tank for 8 days, the only thing that happened was the sps browned out. the lps took a bit to fully extend after. they should be ok
