I just bought one of these guys from Gold's. Does anyone have any experiences they can share with these guys, and how long it takes them to reach their full size?

Thanks.

Is it a blue spiny lobster?

Yes, it's a blue spiny lobster.

I'm from the Atlantic, so I've always wanted a lobster. Albert had some in at Gold's on the weekend so I nabbed one, as they can be kept in warm water. He is in a pico tank right now (large prob. 1.5-2g fish bowl), to be moved to a nano cube, to hopefully be moved into my 75g monster cage that houses my freswater moray and volitan once the spiny becomes big enough.

Clawless, so hopefully he will get along with the other monsters.

Theres a couple blue spiny lobsters on there, not sure which one you have. I would imagine he gets fairly large.

Panulirus versicolor, I believe, on the bottom.

my friend had one of those and well it ate all his hermit crabs... we took him back to the store once we caught him.

This WWM (http://www.wetwebmedia.com/panulirusart.htm) article is excellent. Be prepared for something that will grow to 15-24 inches, and eat anything it can grasp.

Thanks Matt, exactly what I was looking for. I was hoping it could co-habitate with the volitans and gymonothorax tile, but that loooks like a risky move.

Guess I might just have to set up his own tank for him.
