I don't know what they are called but its basically a rubber grommet that a pipe fits through used on curved surfaces eg. skimmers etc. Oh, preferably on the Island (In or around Victoria). Also are they reliable? Or is there a better method which is easily obtainable and inexpensive? Any tips appreciated.

Never used one, but I've seen them in use. A quick google suggests that they are available at:
http://www.saltycritter.com/plumbing.htm (US) or http://www.reefconcept.com/catalog/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=uniseal&osCsid=05ba9ad5f036a010d0cd4bdab75244cc&x=0&y=0 (Quebec)

What size are you looking for? I think I still have some 3/4" ones kicking around somewhere from my skimmer building days...but I have to double check.
