Hi all,

I'm thinking of modifying my sump to include a refugium. I'm woundering what people are using for sand/mud and should I include a small amount of live rock?

Also what intensity of light should I look at? I was thinking about a low wattage power compact.

Dwaine,

Looking at you sump you have lots of room for the refugium, I would plug the holes on the bottom left going to your return and make them higher to keep the water level close to equal with the right baffle. Then fill with sugar sand (I would pre-settle this in another tank or container for a week or 2, this would make adding the sand all at once less likely to cloud the water. I have a similar setup here (http://oberon.ark.com/~ldzielak/fish/sump_explained.jpg) but mine runs left to right.

Also I'm running 2 NO daylights on my refugium section 21"Lx14"Wx11"T. They keep the algae alive but not much for growth. I moving towards 2x55W PC's or using 1 of my old 175W MH.
