Hi, I have a little bit of an Algae problem right now. How bad? It is covering all of the live rock and crushed coral. So probably pretty bad. The Algae started to grow rapidly when I upgraded it for a stronger light. I was wondering what problems this could cause for the marine life in my tank. Could this affect my Anemone? Also what can I do to get rid of this unattractive visitor. Thanks a lot.

Id recomend using RO/DI water to make your makup water as clean as possible, should clean up most of the problem. Also remove some by hand if its hair algae.

It depends on the algea becuase some algeas are not really "algea" at all..
It could be lots of things.. Diotoms (brown slimy)? Cyano bacteria (red slime)? Hair algea?
Macro algeas (larger algeas) absorb certain toxins and excess nutrients.
We'll need a little more info on your sytem before we can access your algea problems..
How old is the sytem? Do you use RO water?
