during a couple month battle with dinoflagellates (i think thats how its spelled) i have had quite a few loses and of course most of them were my favorite or most valuable. isnt that how it always is. i think i may have finally got it. cross my fingers. after a couple days stil no sign where as before within a few hours it popped back up.

Oh man, you even lost fish? I'm sorry to hear it. :(

Got my fingers crossed that it's crested for you and doesn't return...

That's what you LOST?? Oh man...I wish we had fragged stuff or given it temporary home while the battle raged.

If you are thinking that you might have beaten it...do you know what you did? I went through it also and I can't honestly say what I did to get that made it go away.

Colin if this comes back or continues I have a 160 up and running for my refugium that you could store a lot of stuff in.....and I'm close so you could come by and visit your stuff anytime. Im using it mostly to test equipment right now so it wouldnt be any trouble.

thanks for the offer scott.

untamed: i dont know what the exact thing was. over the past 2 months i did a lot things. replaced mh bulbs. replaced ro filters twice. cleaned all pumps. very wet skimming. syphoning as much of it out as possible every week and the final draw was a complete blackout for about 8 days. i turned the lights on for about 3 hours twice during the eight days. during blackout i syphoned sandbed really good and whatever was remaining on the rocks. i think today is the 4th day and still no signs of it. still keeping my fingers crossed. i'm only doing a 5 hr photoperiod right now to acclimate everything. majority of the remaining pieces have gone a gorgeous brown color.

About the only thing we had in common there was the siphoning and the wet skimming. I ran a lot of phosban and carbon. I never changed my bulbs and I didn't reduce the photo period. My only casualties were sponges. Go figure...
