Ok, I remember a year or two ago people were using some sort of push in gromet for sealing pipes going through the sides of skimmers, reactors, ect..

where can you get them and how do they work?

Product is call Uni-seal (http://www.uniseal.co.nz/), I'm using the 1" on a 5" acrylic cylinder. Easy to install, just make sure correct drill size, no leaks.

Sorry don't know where to purchase.

YOu can use them up to 1/2" or 3/8" wall IIRC. 1/8" wall is the thinnest I would use. 1/4" wall works much better than 1/8".
