Hey i have a 6in crocea in my 120g. I have had him for 6months + and the last 2days he will only partly open. All parameters are fine

calc. 410
alk. 11dkh
phos. 0
ph. 7.8-8.2

i am running a calcium reactor and kalk as top off.

Any suggestions or is this normal.

when i first got him i made him a shoe for his foot, which is still tightly in place.

He is only about an 1inch open with no mantle extention. He is also under 250w MH about 12 in deep

oh and my blue and gold maxima are just fine along with my derasa

he could be getting ready to let go of his foot too, that usually stresses them out somewhat

what is your nitrates like in the tank,

Is it possible that something was picking at it?

This was my first guess too.
Check it at night with red (less visible for marine life) light to see what is going on there. also might be small snails feding on the mantle, common parasite.

They are likely pods or mysis and not a problem. What colour are they? Red bugs generally stay on sps, acropora in particular although I have seen them on montipora danae as well and are an amber colour with a dark red head and usually smaller than a spider mite.

it just seems to odd that i notice these things on it and my clam hasen't been opening now i'm noticing that my blue maxima is not doing as well either, fresh water dips ? does the clam have to close completely b/c my crocea does not close fully even when handled.
