View Full Version : Smart Bristle Worm
These traps are useless. They're too small to catch bristle worms. I thought I had this worm caught but even as it got close to the bait, most of its body was still outside the trap. It simply backed out of the trap once it realized that it was a trap. :)

I was also curious about that. Did you catch it being a bad worm?
Got too many of them. Most are small but this one is too big for my liking. Read about people getting cut or bitten by them when they move their liverock around.

Sam, if you do catch it, bring it to the meeting. I'll give it a home.
You got it Brad. Its a good thing you told me that you wanted it alive! :) I had a new plan to catching it quick which involves an algae scraper but then I wouldn't be able to give it to ya in one piece. :) Now I need a non-lethal strategy.

Get a new nylon stocking. Put in some food. Lay under a rock.

Sam, generally by cutting the worm, you get two worms. Not a good strategy :P

Ah, thanks for the tip with the stocking Deb.
Actually Brad, the scraper would have been used to hold it down while I used a pair of tongs to pick it up.

I'm happy to see large ones in my tank now. CC seems to keep them tiny.

I think for the trap to work the worm needs to be away from the rock. When they poke out from the rock they like to keep their back end in the rock. Then they seem to stretch for miles. 8)

I use a turkey blaster (not a typo) to suck em up.
