Okay so I've phoned around trying to find a price on these suckers, seems most places sell the 430 watt bulb and sell people 400 watt ballasts. I found one place that sells the 430 watt ballast but it is just over $200. I think it may just be easier on me to go with the standard MH ballast and a 10,000k Ushio bulb.
Am I getting ripped off here or does that sound about right?

you are getting ripped off.. the 430 watt sonagro should be about 100.00 or LESS.

I can get them for about 85.00 here in Victoria..

Where are you calling around to? Try Albrite Lighting in Port Coquitlam. They're just off the Mary Hill By-Pass and have been real helpful to me.

Al brite told me they don't carry the 430 watt ballast. I think it may be cheaper and easier just to go with the regular ballast and 10,000k bulbs, I'm either going with a single 400 watt or two 250s, I haven't decided yet, I guess I will decide on payday and see if I got paid for all my overtime or not.

BriteLite told you $125 without the capacitor?? :? BriteLite told ME the whole kit-n-kaboodle for $85! Now I know for sure what I've always wondered, that BriteLite makes up a price when you ask them, and the price is subject to change depending on who you talk to, the mood they're in, the angle of the tangent from the crescent moon to the Saturn's second ring ....

Talk to your local hydroponics shop. They ordered them in for me from someplace in Delta.

I just picked up 2 Son Agro 430 watt ballasts today. Cost was $74.00 a piece including ballast, ignitor, cap. I bought them at Commercial Lighting on Annacis Island. When I picked them up they said they had 20 in stock.

I have the contact person I dealt with if you want. let me know.

Commercial Lighting on Clivedon Ave, Annacis Island. I dealt with a fellow named Colin, but anybody in sales should be able to help you. Just ask for a 430 watt Son Agro ballast. The ballast they sell is the one by Venture which according to the specs is a more efficient than the Advance Transformer. 4.55 amp draw vs 5.2.

Ballast comes with ignitor and cap. mogul socket for the bulb is another 5 bucks.

So I just got back from Commercial lighting. I bought a 175W and 250W MH core and coil for 126.00 taxes in. I was a little nervous because there was no box or wiring done, but they gave me the name of a guy to call. He say that he can put it in a bow=x and do all the wire and put on a socket and plug for about 50.00 each, and he comes to my house. Now thats service. I hope that was good price. For the 175W and 250W units complete will cost me 226.00.

Greg, is that 50 each including the parts? if it is it is a good price.. if not you should realy concider doing it your self.. you could do both your self for 60 bucks.

Steve, he said that for 50.00 he would come by and size up my ballast so that he could get a box(if he didn't have one that fit already) and connect all the wiring put on the cords with plugs and what ever kind of socket I wanted. That for each ballast. And theres the fact that I don't have a clue what i'm doing. That pick that you put up of the M80 thread is exactly what mine looks like, minus that smaller rectangular black box.

Hey steve,Can I still get a starter for mine? Are they expensive? Would I have to get it before that guy does my boxes or is it something that can be easily added
