Planning a weekend ski trip in mid January. Have already bought tickets to Kelowna, we're not sure whether to go to Big White or Silver Star.
Does one have better skiing than the other or are they about equal?

i'd say big white. you should try whitewater one time, for some real powder skiing :)

My wife works at Big White but it is the same owner who owns Big White and Silver Star so she deals with both mountains. Silver Star has slightly more black diamond runs but Big White is also a bigger mountain with more variety including more hi speed chair lifts. Big White was voted the #1 family resort in North America. Also it is harder to find accommodation right in the village at Silver Star compared to Big White.
We are lucky enough to live 30 minutes away from Big White plus I get a spousal pass since my wife works their so I spend a lot of time on the mountain snow boarding every winter.

I would say Big White. Awesome mountain. Make sure to bring your camera. The snow ghosts there are phenomenal. Silver Star seems a bit more family orientated to me if that is what you are looking for. Both mountains have excellent terrain and apres ski activities.

I'd say sunpeaks. But since you are so close, why not try powder king?

I think Powder King is a 10 hour drive away and I don't drive that highway in winter because too many people get killed on it.
It looks like the consensus is Big White.
