I ended up buying the wrong size from ebay:sad:

They were very cheap but I do not want to wait a few weeks to order more. I need a 2-1/2" size. I only need it for three holes. If you want, I can give you one of the ones I bought...maybe the 50mm. Never been used. Otherwise, I can compensate you for your troubles.

If anyone can help out, that would be awesome. Or if anyone knows where I can buy one in vancouver for relatively cheap that would be great!

Don't know about Vancouver but an alternative to ebay might be mops.ca - they have inexpensive drill bits too. Not too sure about lead time though.

I have that size, I'd mail it to you if you can't find anything local (you'd have to promise to mail it back :p ) but .. well, its probably not any quicker than the other options.

Surely someone in the L.M. can help you out though. Good luck!

Only have 1.5", 1" & 3/4". 2.5" is huge:biggrin: I've never needed larger than 1.5" on any of my tanks or the tanks I've drilled.

What tiny bulkheads are you using, Anthony? 1" Sched-40 already needs a 1-3/4" hole. :) I think 2.5" hole is what you need for a 1.5" bulkhead.

Yes, 1.5" bulkhead is what this is for.

Thanks Anthony. I was actually going to PM you about this because you seem to drill your fair share of tanks!

The sizes refer to bulkhead size, not actual drill bit diameter.

I find it less confusing to state bulkhead size since people know how big a bulkhead they want to install, but they don't usually know how big exactly will the hole be to fit a certain bulkhead size.

Have drilled at least a dozen tanks so far:biggrin:

Bump...

Well Anthony, do you have a 2-1/2 bit?

For a 1.5" bulk head you need a 2 3/8" hole. Your 50 mm is a 1/16" th smaller than 2". So you need an additional 1/2". Now what I have done is I have a 1 1/2" bit and I have done 2" holes no problem. I drill out the 1 1/2" and then as you see the diamond bit will have a rough diamond edge on the outside of the bit. I use this to slowly (by going in a circular fashion) to ream out the hole larger. I keep the bit perfectly straight so as not to bind and slowly grind out the sides. You will be surprised how easy it is, just make sure you always have cold water pouring on it. I set it in my back yard and fasten a running garden hose to it. Stop once in a while and check your bulk head to it. Just remember to ream out all the way around the hole so you grind all sides evenly. Any questions feel free to ask.

Yeah sorry I think my drill bit is 60mm not 2.5". I just said 2.5", 'cuz it was easier.
