I couldn't find any in the boonies where I live so I made my own. Take acrylic chips and cuttings and put them in a glass jar, cover the acrylic pieces with acetone let it sit overnight and you've got your cement. I built a 17 gal using this stuff and it's been holding for a month. You can make any thickness you want. Just change the amount of acetone you use in the jar. If it's too thin let the jar sit open for a while acetone is very volatile and will evaporate leaving a thickened product. Wal mart has the acetone in the painting section, it comes in 1l tin cans for about $9.

thanks spoot they dident have any in stock but there going to phone me back:biggrin:

hillbillyreefer: i dont think makeing my own would work sence it cant be vary thick, i have to use(and find)an aplicater bottle with a fine tip and i think any bits of acrylic would clog it, the skimmer iam makeing is only 14"HX2.5"LX1"W

ol nobodaddy: no ive tried HD and they dident know what i was talking about:rolleyes: , i just hope they have 1/2" IDX 5/8" OD CPVC pipe when i go back to make the skimmer injector

My first batch had a water like consistency. There are no chunks the acrylic dissolves in the acetone. My second batch I wanted thicker so I used less acetone. It had the consistency of a paste. To apply I used about a 5 cc syringe with a sixteen gauge needle. Once the acetone evaporates the acrylic hardens back to plastic and your done. It only takes a couple minutes to harden.

This place is great. I got some weld-on from them last week and they were open until 5:30 so it gave me some time to get up there. I spent some time and talk to one of the guys who worked there because they do custom one-off designs too! I just got my 75g reef tank up and running but I think I'll be going back to these guys to design my new sump in a couple months.
