I read about lights for your sump. This is news to me can someone explain the benifits.

if you have macro in there it helps to keep it alive. also, easier to see what's a-goin' in down der!

I have just added some live rock should the light be bright enough to benifit it? I get the brighter thing!:lol:

if there's nothing that's photosynthetic then you don't really need a light. live rock for instance doesn't need light, macro does. refugium and sump are sometimes terms that are used interchangably...sump's are mostly just a place to exchange water, keep skimmers, probes, auto top off's etc. refugiums have macro, live rock, critters, low light corals...whatever you want. it's a place where no peretitors can eat copepods, hence the name reufug-ium.

your better off having a propperly light refugium and leaving your sump for your equipment.Your refugium can then be over- flowed to your main
system then.Otherwise you will be having a skimmer and main pump in your fuge.Not good IMO
