Who can tell me how THIS (http://www.oceansmotions.com/store/video/tsunami.wmv) works?

That is quite the rig, so is that piece that moves around on the bottom making the wave? If so how will that work in a reef tank? Very cool.

Greg, I thought that at first. But I think it's something just floating in there, to show the water movement lower in the tank.

I'm guessing the two BIG bulkheads are piped to some sort of device underneath the tank. I just don't know what that device IS. And it also looks like the guy is manually turning something.

i'm not sure if it is the same thing but i know royal exclusive (sorry i dont know what pump it is) but anyway they are developing an external pump for a closed loop system that can also act as a wave device in the same way as that movie. i read up on it a couple months ago and i think jason from proline is using it in tank they are buildling. really cool though

Think CL with the bulkheads on the sides able to cycle between being the input and output and what he's playing with, being the diverting valve.

Ya that is exactly what it is doing

Looks pretty cool but to bad you have to stand there the whole time flipping the switch to make it work. It would be alot nicer if it was automated.

i think he is adjusting the wave not actually making the wave,

cool idea but the water level in the tank is pretty low due to the splash it creates when it gets going. You would need a huge tank, or really tall one in order to have a decent water level... Correct me if I'm wrong tho

That's a Ocean Motions product called the Tsunami, believe it's still under development.

Yes, an OM product.

Last time I talked to Paul he had all the stuff made and ready to go into production, but needed to get the electronics designed to control it.

He was going to build in some limits so that a huge wave like that would not be able to be produced.
