My Tunze recently seized and I can feel an electris shock on the wire when it is wet, so I am going to change things up.

I am thinking about getting 2 Vortechs.

Does anyone have them?

I have also heard good things about the Tunze Nano pumps.

Opinions would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hmmm

Are these realy that good Albert? Does 1200 GPH seem a little low for my tank?

I would need like 4 of them right?

They might be working on a new one with larger volumes.

personally had nothing but bad luck witht he vortech's and after 3 strikes in 2 months i got my money back. keep in mind they're not directional at all so it sort of limits where you can aim your stream with them.

I really like the Hydors I have two #4's in my 90 and they work great. I have yet to even clean them once in 4 months and have had no issues, unlike the seios that would crap out after a couple weeks of use.

My problem is that my tank is a Bare Bottom 240 Gallon and 1200 GPH is not very much.

With a bare bottom tank, I have the opportunity to REALLY push the flow.

I also like the fact the the Vortechs motor is outside of the tank for heat and electrical reasons....

Hydors for sure.. cheap, silent, and have given me no problems.

Why not go back to some new Tunzes? With a BB 240 you're open to a ton of flow.

The Vortechs are nice but as someone mentioned they can't be aimed. There's a new controller out, but I haven't seen any reviews. If the Vortech's initial teething difficulties are anything to go by (see fishface's experience), I'd wait a bit to see if any problems come with the first batch of Vortech controllers.

If you decide to go hydor, you can mod them.

I also had a vor tech it served me well for 6 months then the bearing went the high pitch squeal was nice I have two tunze's 6100's for over a year with no trouble I clean them very little, I love these pumps Marc at hidden reef can mod the wavy sea to fit a tunze I have seen them on his tank and they are a sweet combo for sure.

I vouch for the Hydor Koralias, too. I've had lots of problems with the Tunze Nanostreams, and none with the Koralia that I picked up a few months ago.

The Vortechs are so expensive, and it's fairly limited. I don't think heat would be much of an issue with the Koralias, because they operate on such a low wattage, respectively.

The flow you could achieve with three or four Koralia 4's would be much better, IMO.
