I was just wondering in general (before getting realllyy expensive) how long you can get (from 1 sheet of glass or acrylic). The idea of a really long tank i think would be cool... say 12 feet long, not necessarily that wide + hight though. at 12 feet x 18" x 18" ~ 200gal.. not going to be doing this anytime soon, just contemplating the logistics of a really long one.

How about plywood tanks...see Garf.org. I have one unassembled that is 8ft long 140g built to Garf specs. A 12 ft glass tank your looking at 0.5 to 0.75 inches of plate glass and that is going to cost bucks

I few months back when I started pricing out my monster tank, I found that the biggest length you could get was 15ft. Then again, it does seem to depend on who you speak with, I've heard numbers that range from 12ft - 18ft, all flat sheets.

As soon as you go over 6 feet you get into custom lengths so the price jumps big time.
my tank is only 78 inches and it's 2 pieces of 3/8ths laminated together
so total thickness is 3/4
