I remember seeing this critter on the net a few months back. Now I have one as a hitchhiker and can't remember where I saw it. I've been looking for hours to try and find it again. Anyone come across info on this would be be doing me a favor. I'd like to keep it but not sure what it feeds on.

I think your referring to a hard worm like shell, and it puts out long sticky webs.

Could we have a close up, or maybe a box or something around what your asking us to ID?

Ok, here are the links for the pics in high res with the worm in a blue circle. It's about 3" long and only comes out at night.

I'd say a Peanut Worm.

Nope. I know what those are like. This has a flat bottom, moves around like a crawling worm. arched top with 3 distinct circles in front and some red markings ( skinny diamond shape) from mid to back end. I would say depending in where it crawls it can go from 1cm wide to about 2cm wide when on a flat area. I have watched it lift it's front ond up in the air and move it around as if to look around or smell things in the current. I might have to make a video of it. Could be tough like I said it only comes out in the dark. The only light in those photos were from the flash.

Well I guess it must be safe. I haven't seen any damage from it. I'll let it be and enjoy it durring my night watchings.

I have one in my tank too. I think it resembles more of a slug than a worm. I have actually seen it releasing what appears to be eggs. It seems to do a great job keeping the rock clean but knocks over frags. I saw it stretched across my tank once from one rock to another and I swear that sucker was 8 inches long ... and I didn't see the end of it.

Finally found ID on this thing. It's a chiton. Here's a link for more details.
