I'm going over to Asia in September and I was looking to get a new digital camera.

I've been eying the Canon S3IS and they had it on the airmiles reward list but then last month they released the new updated version the Canon S5IS (a vast improvement).

I was torn.......... us the airmiles and get the older camera without spending any money....... or buy a $550+ camera.

I decided to be responsible and I decided to order the S3IS......... I go to the site....... and low and behold.......... they are offering the S5IS for the same amount of airmiles as the old S3IS :)

Now I can't wait till it comes :)

Cheers,

Now that is an awesome find! How many points did it cost you, if you don't mind me asking?

For me 850 airmiles gets me a $600.00 RT ticket to Vancouver, so it doesn't make much sense to spend miles on merchandise, that one camera would be the equivalent of $3000.00 worth of airline tickets.

We got a Canon digi with airmiles, and it's an outstanding camera!

That's just a snapshot, with a tripod and proper settings, it's even better. I don't take credit for any of my pics, it's all the camera's doing!

I use the S3 IS for all my photos and am very happy with it (for the price of course). I am sure you will enjoy great success with the 5S IS.

The specs look amazing. I'm another S3 IS user, it's a great camera.

Well....... I don't fly much domestically so merchandise is ok with me.

Catherine...... it cost me 4600 airmiles.

I can't wait to start using it :)

Hopefully I can take some pictures of "Fish Street" in Hong Kong. Imagine 2 square blocks of nothing but fish shops :)

I hope to go to some fish farms in Thailand also.
