I have noticed that the only used MH hoods that I have seen for sale are the Coralife products. I have also noticed the pricing for the new systems are almost as low as buying used and adding the cost to replace all the bulbs. Are these a good light or are they yesterdays product? I also have a 72 gal oceanic bowfront and have come to the conclusion that I cannot find a MH hood that would fit under the Oceanic hood of 13 inches on either side.

I am also wondering if I should go for the 250x2mh verion and not the 150x2mh version. My tank is 23/24 inches deep

I am looking forward to comments and suggestions.

i have a 72" Aqualight Pro 3x150W unit and I really like the slick look. I've not had any problems with it and I even upgraded the middle MH to 250 without any problems. I wouldn't call them Yesterday's product... i would call it a good product.

i've got the double 150w setup and i like it too.
i would go with the 250w setup with the 24" tank though

They do look slick but will overhang on the ends of my tank. Would I have alot more heat concerns between the 150 and 250?

although it will overhang, because all the ends and overhangs are symetrical, i think it will look fine. depending on what you keep in your tank would determine if you should go 150 to 250's. There is obviously a difference in heat dissipation between the two but depending on the height above the water and air movement around your unit will dictate if heat concerns will be an issue for your tank.

which light are you looking to switch out? there is a difference if you are switching out the middle or ends because of the fans.

Had a 2 by 150W coralife over my 72 gallon bow at work. Looked fine . Just get the legs with it and it fits purfect over the tank.

I have been using the 6' Aqualight Pros for several years now. I love them. All in one systems are much nicer than retrofits. I recently switched over from a 150w version to a 250w version since my wife decided she likes SPS now. Love it. Using 14000k Aquaconnects I bought from Hidden Reef. Of course, mine is over a 29" deep tank, so 250w for anything more light loving is required. These German bulbs have great colour & high par. Colours up some of my sps quite fast.
