Yup, and its fused back together nicely.
Marie, Nice pic of the pink rimmed cap. I can't seem to capture the pink when I take photos of it. Nice growth pattern on the purple too.

I think I need better lighting for that bad boy, then! It's doing ok, but not nearly that bright!!

Here's my orange cap, same picture as my avatar. Not as nice as Marc's cap, but I think he went heavy on the Photoshop

Here's a shot of one of my old caps taken March 06. When I got rid of this bad boy in Jan 07 I had to break a bunch of it off to get it to fit into a 5 gal salt bucket and it was a good 3.5" thick.(calcium hog) I still have some of it growing but it's not in a spot I can get a picture of it. It is much more orange than the picture shows but my old light's made it photogragh sort of pinkish.

These days my tank space is at a premium so now I mainly use this cap as an acro shelf.

And the cap still grows? No fighting with the acro is holding?

That picture is about 2 months old. The cap has now grown up around the base and it looks like the acro is growing right out of the cap. The only fightimg is the new cap growth that reaches the acro's branches. Acro's will always win hands down over montipora, so then the monti just starts to plate away from the acro. So far so good.
