i was wondering if anyones tried anything like this on the back of their canopy or stand? seems like a super cheap alternative to a chiller and much more robust than the good ol clip-on's. i may just give it a shot.

Anything that moves the air is going to help. Depending on the speeds, looks like it might be stronger then the average 4" muffin fans.

The only concern is evaporation - I'm assuming you've got a nice big ATO though??

If so, looks like that would kick serious butt to keep the heat away, I know having my gimpy cilp-on fan has made a huge difference.

Also, changing the light cycle helps too at least somewhat :)

so i got one of these today, not the one shown in the above link but it rocks. i put it behind my canopy and it's dropped my temp down and holds it at 78.5f. waaaaay better than the old clip-on deal i had. i've been having a bit of a difficult time dealing with high water temps so far this summer and really didn't want to go the chiller route...this has been a very inexpensive alternative for me.

I actually had one of those that I recently replaced with one of these (http://www.leevalley.com/garden/page.aspx?c=2&p=56701&cat=2,42194) from Lee Valley it moves a ton more air.

Should also make sure you don't cool to much.

Having trouble keeping cool temp. this summer? What summer? It's been very wet & cool so far around the Lower Mainland, other than those few days of hot weather. I wonder how bad it'll be when it really heats up.

Should also make sure you don't cool to much.the fan's on a controller so there's no problem there...
