Reef Meeting
Frag Swap & Shop

OK, Since no one else seems ready and willing to hold one, I would like to offer to hold the first meeting of the year.

Date: Saturday February 1, 2003
Time: 11 - 3pm

Served: Pop, Coffee and Snacks

I will talk to the landlord and hopefully get the space next door to hold the meeting (hopefully we can turn on the heat...)

For those who would like to bring frags, I will have set up a few heated containers for bags.

I am hoping to have a couple speakers, local, and maybe a presentation on fragging.

Also hoping for a good attendance.

Oh, I hope Tim will bring some ring/money cowries!!! I'm trying not to have to drive 2 hours East to get them!! :) I'm quite sure a few others want the cowries too. I don't need any more fighting conchs but possibly some fighting conchs would be popular too. I'd be interested in a queen conch though.

Sam brought up an interesting point that in our communication on this board this may seem like a little private club.

ITS NOT, anyone that has an interest in the hobby is more than welcome to attend.

Most of the individuals in this forum have long term saltwater experience that can be extremely valuble for those starting out or wanting to learn something new.

Good to hear, Shao.

Troy, I think between you and Sam, we'll have enough room. We'll let the meeting get closer to get an accurate count of us coming over.

Thanks for the offer, guys!

I shall be there as well.

Should be bringing some frags but will all depend on if I can get some corals chopped up by then. Alternatively is anyone interested in a soccer ball sized brown frogspawn, trade for a smaller one + WHY?

sumpfinfishe
01-28-2003, 02:41 PM
I don't know if my green sinularia frags will be ready in time, if there are attatched by Sat. I will have four very small single branch frags. I will have small green and orange buttons though!

Only 4 more sleeps :!:  :o

Wow, is it almost that time already?

I guess I knew that and that's why I fragged a bunch of corals today in preparation for the big meeting.

Looking forward to bringing my fairly large green frogspawn which will go "under the knife" (OK, a dremmel actually) LIVE at the meeting, and perhaps some of you may be lucky enough to get a couple heads of it. (Probably cut off two branches). This is an offspring of Shao's frogspawn that I got from him over a year ago.

Does anyone want some cheap Xenia? I fragged a dozen pieces for the local LFSs today, but if anyone at the meeting wants any it'll only be $5 per frag (mounted).

I'll also have a couple frags of yellow Sinularia, a piece of Colt coral and possibly some brown and green/brown button polyps (if I can ascertain that it's ok to just pull them off the rocks that they are currently overtaking)

Boy I haven't been this excited about a reef club meeting since the one I hosted WAY back two summers ago. (Vancouver Reef Club Meeting #1!) 8)
