Hi all,

I just got a Kenya tree coral but I've noticed that my yellow Fiji leather is not extending it's polyps now. I haven't read of any incompatibility issues since these are in the same coral family. They are located beside each other in the tank. Could be a freak coincidence that the leather is closed up at this point.
All water parameters are the same and "normal" as usual.

Anyone know if having these two in the same tank a no-no?

I'm going to try to move them further apart and use some carbon in the HOB skimmer to see if that helps, but if these two are truely not to be kept in the same tank then one has got to go.

Any help is appreciated - thanks.

I didn't know they were located in the same coral family

I would separate them and observe. Leathers closing up for a time is regular in my experience, so it could just be a coincidence, too.

I have both in my tank for about a year with no problems.

Yeah, they're part of the family Alcyoniidae. Will seperate and observe.
