Hey just curious, I was looking at getting a BM 250 skimmer for my new tank setup and was wondering if anybody is using one and how well they work. Or if you know of a good place to find reviews on it.

Sean
We tried one here ourselves & they work great , it took almost 10 days to fully break in ,the new version has a valve to control the water height in skimmer which makes it easier to tune it in ,fine bubbles & very consistant overall impresive skimmer for a good price.
There should be a few BM-250 users here on canreef I hope someone will chime in.

They look impressive I was just curious to see if anyone was using one and how it was performing. If all signs are good then I will get Mike from Hidden Reef to order me one.

Anybody able to comment on the $$$ Vs. Performance comparison between these and Bubble Kings?

Why, what's the big deal? People a bit touchy about the price of BK's?

I read they are coming out with a Recerc BM that will be External. Any truth to that rumor? If so I may have to start counting my Pennies

The price is alot lower than a BK probably close to 1/3 of a BK.
As for the Recirc Models ,Jason I am not sure ,when that will materialize ,there will be a BM300 in the future which is going to be with 3 pumps.
Also for the Air intake ,Albert it is actually 1000 LPH/Pump so in the BM-250 case we are talking 2000 LPH of Air Intake.

BM 250 Well I have a chance I can get a BM2590 from a friend in the US, that i'm most likely going to get it. I was going to buy Dirty reefer's Deltec 701 from him ,but he doesnt want to sell it yet until he sells his lighting unit. Then I was going to buy the
h&S from blaster ,but again something came up. Now that i have some one buying my dual beckett and my other tank i can get another skimmer to try out. I have tried many different skimmers from Euroreef's ,down drafts ,becketts, venturi, Air stones. So i have been doing a bit of reading on the Bubble masters and yes they seem to be pretty good. they also say you need at least 200 gal to run these skimmers from the 200 model.

I'm getting the 250 with the daul pumps and the gate valve. So I hope that my 120 gal with the 75 gal sump will be ok for the unit. can any one tell me what water height do you need for the skimmer are they like the euro reefs that you need around 9" of water or is it 6"

I am running mine in 7 inches, on a 150 gallon with a 50 gallon sump...very similar tank sizing, and it pulls out stuff like its going out of style....still works at 8, and 9 inches, but have not tried it lower.

Would you care to offer an opinion on the cost and performance of the Bubble Master vs. Bubble King Jason?
